Tap water

Water is one of the most common in nature and crucial for life chemical compounds. Provision of water to the city residents has the essential and strategic meaning. One of the first sentences of the Water Framework Directive reads: “Water is not a commercial product just like any other but, rather, a heritage which must be protected, defended and treated as such”.

For every waterworks company, the main objective prescribed by law is to provide a product that is safe for the consumer’s health. As the quality of drinking water is of significant importance for human health, it must meet all Polish and European quality standards. This allows confirming that the water is “clean and healthy”. This is the water that is supplied to the Kraków residents by our Company.

Water hardness

Water hardness represents the concentration of calcium and magnesium in it. The more of these minerals, the harder the water. Water supplied by Kraków Water to individual parts of the city is soft or medium hard.

To ensure the best quality of water, it undergoes a multi-stage treatment process at every plant. Kraków Water uses state-of-the-art water disinfection technologies, including a UV radiation system also found in New York and Rotterdam. Having passed through the whole process, water is supplied to consumers through a water supply network approximately 2,280 km in length, which is almost the distance from Kraków to Mirandela in Portugal in a straight line.
