We have been taking steps to protect the environment for many years. We believe that environmental education fostering responsible environmental attitudes is of utmost importance in raising awareness of the need to protect the environment.

We have developed three educational projects for children: "Droplet's Travels", "Droplet Academy" and "Bathyscaphe Expedition. Screenings Mission". The educational path for teenagers: "It won’t fit in the sewer!" and "On the trail of tap water". These activities present water and sewage treatment problems in an accessible way. Participants can learn about protecting the environment, and natural water resources in particular. Our offer of educational programmes also includes educational cruises on the picturesque Dobczyce Reservoir.

We are also developing educational activities in other domains. For several years, we have been informing Kraków residents of the advantages of the safe and mineral-rich Krakow tap water as part of the "Good water straight from the tap in Kraków" campaign. The "It won’t fit in the sewer!" campaign is to raise Kraków residents’ awareness of the operation of the municipal sewerage network and sewage treatment. Our latest social and educational campaign "Cheers. Tap water drinking for senior citizens" raises awareness of senior citizens’ need to regularly drink water, as they are at particular risk of dehydration.

Droplet Academy

The "Droplet Academy" is the first environmental education program developed by Kraków Water in 2009. Today, the educational offer is much broader and addressed to various age groups.

Our concept assumes that developing attitudes is a long-term and complex process. Consequently, Kraków Water starts educating students in grades 1-3, as knowledge and skills gained early, then expanded and reinforced at later education stages, will lead to the desired result, namely an environmentally aware and sensitive young generation of Kraków residents.

The Droplet's travels

In the 2015/2016 school year, we launched an environmental education project for preschoolers. The message is conveyed in an interactive, educational performance called "Droplet's Travels" in which, by playing, children learn about protecting water bodies and their surroundings and about rationally using natural resources.

Good water straight from the tap

On 22 March 2013, the World Water Day, we launched an information campaign called "Good water straight from the tap in Kraków". We act to encourage all residents and visitors to our city to drink the universally available, inexpensive and mineral-rich Kraków tap water.

It won't fit in the sewer

In 2017, we launched an information and educational campaign called "It won't fit in the sewer!" to make our city's residents aware of the problem of litter wrongly thrown into toilets, sinks or sewer inlets in Kraków.
